Washington Adventist University Awards Over $3 Million in Scholarships at their mini Campus Preview Day

TAKOMA PARK, Md. — Washington Adventist University (WAU) hosted a transformative mini campus preview day that brought 141 students from Northeastern Academy, Pine Forge Academy, and Takoma Academy to explore the university’s offerings, culminating in more than $3 million in scholarships awarded.

Initially planned as a standard visit, the event quickly evolved into a dynamic experience, allowing students to engage closely with WAU’s Music Department, Athletics, and academic programs. For many, the visit confirmed their desire to join the university community.

Traci Carroll, a counselor from Pine Forge Academy, praised the seamless organization of the event. “From start to finish, everything was precisely planned,” Carroll said. “Even minor issues were handled so smoothly they didn’t become problems. My students were particularly excited to see that WAU incorporates music into worship.”

Ivanhoe Douglas, principal of Northeastern Adventist Academy, highlighted WAU’s inclusive worship experience and presentations as standout moments. “If I were choosing a college based on today’s visit, I would be convinced to attend WAU,” Douglas said. He also commended Dir. Williams, a WAU staff/faculty member, for his expertise and dedication, describing him as “truly fit for his position.”

Marianne Hope, guidance counselor and Bible teacher at Takoma Academy, said WAU’s professors left a lasting impact on her students. “The professors showed real passion for helping students succeed, and it didn’t feel like just a job to them,” Hope noted. “I’ve visited many colleges, but the enthusiasm here felt genuine and personal.”

A highlight for many was the announcement of on-the-spot scholarships and admissions, a moment met with cheers and gratitude from students and faculty alike. The event, intended as an ordinary visit, quickly became a defining experience, bringing WAU’s mission and commitment to student success to life for the visiting students.
