WAU Halcyon Hall Hosts Alumni Mixer
The ladies at Halcyon Hall on the WAU campus recently held an Alumni Mixer, it’s the first event of its kind for the residence hall. The objective for the event was to bring alumni and current residents together for an afternoon of celebrating womanhood, encouragement, and networking; but most importantly to begin rebuilding community in the hall. Provost of WAU, Dr. Cheryl Kisunzu opened the afternoon with Bible based empowerment. Current residents also participated in the program through thoughts, reflections, poems and songs.
The highlight of the afternoon was presenting our honorees with tokens of appreciation for the part they have and continue to play in the history of Halcyon Hall. “Moving forward, we believe it is important to find ways to say thank you. To let those who were here before us know that even though we may not know the full story, their presence still matters here.” said Ashlee Chambers, Dean of Women for Halcyon Hall.
The 2022 Honorees are: Alum, Celeste Ryan Blyden; Former Dean of Women and Alum, Adrienne Matthews; Former Assistant Dean of Women and Alum, Nemeka Clercin; Former Chaplain and Alum, Regina Johnson; Former Assistant Dean of Women, Sharnelle Henry.
