Takoma Park, MD: We are thrilled to announce that, once again, WAU’s Music department has demonstrated its world-class excellence. On September 18th, the magnificent orchestra is set to perform at Sligo Church for the “Leadership Summit” of Adventist HealthCare’s top executives.
Adventist HealthCare stands as the first, largest, and only health system in Montgomery County, boasting numerous accolades, including being recognized as a Top 10% Hospital for CABG, earning the title of Top Agency of 2019 HomeCare Elite for the ninth consecutive year, and being featured in FORBES’ 2022 list of America’s Best In State Employers.
Dr. Brian Liu, the Orchestra Co-Director, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating, “We are immensely proud of this partnership, which builds upon our previous collaboration between our Music Therapy Program and their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”
The orchestra is set to perform a brand-new composition by one of WAU’s brilliant graduates, Felipe Paccagnella. We have complete confidence in the orchestra’s exceptional abilities to master this piece in a short span, requiring only two rehearsals and substantial independent practice.
Dr. Liu shared his perspective, emphasizing his trust in the students’ preparedness. He remarked, “Our students are highly skilled, and we anticipate them being fully prepared by September 14th. We wouldn’t undertake this endeavor if we had any doubts about their capabilities.”
This prestigious event, titled “Mission in Motion: Where Healing Happens,” will see the participation of 30 to 40 students worldwide.
“Mission in Motion” aims to facilitate learning, networking, and celebrating successes while aligning the company’s mission, vision, and strategies. This year’s theme, “Where Healing Happens,” will delve deeper into the healing concept and healers’ role at Adventist HealthCare.
