WAU Week of Prayer Opens with Worship, Gratitude, and a Message on Hope “In All Things”

Wilkinson Hall filled with song and testimony Monday morning as Washington Adventist University launched its fall Week of Prayer with student-led worship and an opening message from Pastor Charles A. Tapp, president of the Potomac Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

The service opened with worship led by music therapy students, followed by a stirring special music selection from Elibeth Breton, who sang His Eye Is on the Sparrow. The performance deeply moved the audience and set a reflective tone that prepared hearts to receive the morning message.

Preaching on the theme “In All Things,” Pastor Tapp drew from Romans 8:28 to encourage students to trust God’s sovereignty even in seasons of difficulty. “Paul isn’t saying all things are good,” Pastor Tapp said, “but that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.”

Sharing both personal testimony and biblical insight, Pastor Tapp reminded the campus community that faith does not exempt believers from pain, but assures them that God can bring meaning and growth from every circumstance. He will continue speaking throughout WISE Week, offering daily messages designed to strengthen students’ faith and deepen their spiritual identity.

As part of the program, WAU has also partnered with youth pastors from the Potomac Conference, who will be present on campus each day to meet with students and pray with them. Together, the university and conference leaders invite students, faculty, and staff to fully engage in WISE Week, joining in worship, reflection, and prayer.
