Biography:
Dr. Gladstone Gurubatham is Professor of Psychology in the School of Arts and Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Geoscience Education and Psychology and holds three Masters’ degrees from The Catholic University of America, University of Michigan, and Andrews University. Dr. Gurubatham is a licensed professional Counselor and is nationally certified as a Crisis Intervener and Addictions Specialist. He is also a licensed professional Diplomate of the American Academy of Health Care Providers in Addiction Disorders, American Academy of Pain Management, and a member of the American Society of Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Gurubatham also specializes in psychopathology, health psychology, group therapy, counseling psychology, and mental health. He is past president of the D.C. Mental Health Counselors’ Association and past president of Maryland’s Takoma-Langley Rotary Club. In addition, Dr. Gurubatham is the founder and architect of the University’s Adult Evening Degree Program, now known as the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Research and Professional Activities:
His research interests include neuropsychology, neuroscience, and substance abuse. He currently teaches classes in individual counseling, group therapy, health psychology and psychopathology, as well as sociology and geography for both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
