Washington Adventist University Welcomes Dr. LaVonne Browne as New Chair and Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) — Washington Adventist University (WAU) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. LaVonne Browne as the new Chair and Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling. Dr. Browne brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success in her new role, where she will lead the university’s psychology and counseling programs.

Born and raised in Berrien Springs, Mich., Dr. Browne attended Oakwood University before earning her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her professional journey has taken her across various states, where she has served as a psychologist in universities, community settings, and private practice. In 2006, she settled in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area, where she has continued to build her career and contribute to the field of psychology.

Dr. Browne is married and has two sons, aged 18 and 20. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys cooking, reading, and walking or hiking. Her passion for psychology and counseling is matched by her enthusiasm for joining the WAU family.
