Meet the Provost
Dr. Elfreda V. Blue serves as Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Washington Adventist University, providing leadership for academic curriculum, faculty development, and student success. An accomplished educator and academic administrator, Dr. Blue brings more than two decades of experience in higher education, with a career spanning teaching, research, program development, and academic leadership.
Dr. Blue earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from Andrews University and a Ph.D. in Special Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her extensive teaching experience includes elementary and secondary education as well as undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level instruction.
Prior to joining WAU, Dr. Blue held several faculty and administrative leadership positions, including Chair of the Department of Specialized Programs in Education and Vice Provost for Graduate and Undergraduate Studies at Hofstra University. Her work has focused on curriculum development, academic excellence, global education, advising, and student success.
A committed Seventh-day Adventist, Dr. Blue views education as an extension of Christian service. At WAU, she is passionate about advancing academic excellence while preparing students for lives of purpose and service to God and humanity.
