Step 1 – For New Freshmen and Transfer Students for Fall 2021
Submit your Admission Application today and take your first step to an amazing future with Washington Adventist University!

Submit your Official Transcripts/Test scores to Admissions.
- Have your school send your official transcript to enroll@wau.edu.
Contact (text or call) the Office of Admissions to schedule an appointment for Financial Aid Advising.

Step 2 – Confirm your attendance with Admissions
Pay your confirmation fee through Admissions via Paypal below:
- Call or text at 301-575-4097 or 202-641-5457.
- Determine if you plan to live on campus and notify Dean Timothy Nelson at tnelson@wau.edu.
- You may also call or text at 301-575-4097.
- You will get pre-registered into your first semester courses after you have submitted payment and acknowledge your intent to attend WAU.
Step 3 – Check your personal email for a message from advising@wau.edu
After you have paid and submitted your confirmation to the Admissions department, this email will verify you have been registered for your first semester courses and provide your next steps.
>>Beginning April 1, 2021, all incoming Freshman students will be automatically registered for the following courses (depending on your declared major or certain circumstances, there may be exceptions to these courses – please contact the Betty Howard Center for Student Success for clarifications, questions or if any adjustments to your schedule need to be made: BHCSS@wau.edu).
- Create your WAU email account.
Step 4 – Check for an email from records@wau.edu
As soon as you have paid the confirmation fee, you will also receive an email from records@wau.edu within 7 days to set up your WAU email account and the next steps.

- You can view your first semester courses by logging into MyWAU, clicking on MyAcademics, and then select Class Schedule.
- Please contact the Betty Howard Center for Student Success for clarifications, questions, or if any adjustments to your schedule that need to be made: BHCSS@wau.edu or call 301-575-4097.
Step 5 – Insurance/Immunization/Test Scores
- The Office of Student Life will contact you regarding how you provide proof of health insurance and immunization requirements slr@wau.edu or 301-891-4525.
- The Betty Howard Center for Student Success will contact you regarding if you need to take the Accuplacer® Placement Testing Process at WAU for English/Math. Contact Nedelka Sellers nsellers@wau.edu or 301-891-4106.
Step 6 – Getting financially cleared after registering for classes
- Contact Student Financial Aid by calling 301-891-4005 or email at finaid@wau.edu:
- Contact the Office of Student Accounts to set up a payment plan.
- Call Student Accounts 301-891-4210 or email them at studentaccount@wau.edu.
Step 7 – New Student Orientation
- Once you have been registered for your first semester courses, you will receive a welcome letter and packet via USPS from the Office of New Student Orientation and First Year Experience, and the Betty Howard Center for Student Success. Included within the packet will be a schedule of New Student Orientation events between April and the beginning of classes on August 23rd, including both in-person and virtual activities. Please contact the Betty Howard Center for Student Success for more information, or if you do not receive your Welcome Packet within two weeks of your registration: BHCSS@wau.edu or 301-891-4106.
Step 8 – Parking Decals & Photo IDs
- Visit our WAU Security office for more information on receiving your photo ID and Parking Decal.
- The security office is located at the corner of the building next to the Boyer Building and across from Halcyon Hall Girl’s Residence Hall.
