Students Set New Standard for Ministry

On Washington Adventist University (WAU) Ministry Department’s “Cruise with a Purpose,” January 5-14, Brittany Bower proved the perfect example of Christian humility and compassion.

Moved by the plight of a young girl, who arrived at a mission event in the Dominican Republic without shoes, Brittany, a junior biology major from Baltimore, promptly removed hers and handed them to the teenager. She spent the rest of the afternoon in her socks until a group member loaned her a pair of size 13 flip-flops.

Lady Shock Lends a Hand to Admissions Office

Lady Shock athletesWashington Adventist University women’s basketball team, Lady Shock, is lending it’s time to the Office of Admissions assisting Krista Byrd, admissions counselor with data entry and other routine tasks in the office. Byrd is also athletic specialist and assistant women’s basketball coach.

Lady Shock has been assisting the team over several weeks, including during the Christmas break.

“We greatly appreciate their time and effort,” Byrd said. “They give generously and what they do does make a difference to our small office.”

Celebration of John Konrad’s Life, January 12

A celebration for the life of John Konrad, Vice President and General Manager of Washington’s contemporary Christian music station, WGTS 91.9, will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church, 7700 Carroll Avenue Takoma Park, MD 20912

Konrad, 43, died at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, January 2, after a short illness.
