Freshman Class Welcomed at Gateway Ceremony
Washington Adventist University (WAU) welcomed the class of 2016 with its traditional Gateway ceremony and dinner held in the dining hall and on the commons, August 28. The refurbished dining hall with its shiny new furniture provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony welcoming the freshman class.

Tight Fiscal Management Paying off for Washington Adventist University
Increased enrollment, contributions from alumni and friends, and prudent budgetary choices, have contributed to another year of improved financial performance at Washington Adventist University. The Consolidated Financial Index (CFI) score, a higher education financial health measurement, has greatly improved over the last several years with current score beating the average of all private colleges in Maryland.Â
Columbia Union Constituency Approves Ordination Without Regard to Gender
In a specially called session of the Columbia Union Conference Constituency, delegates from its eight conferences voted overwhelmingly to approve a recommendation from the union executive committee authorizing ordination without regard to gender. The historic vote was 209 in favor and 51 opposed, with nine abstentions—a ratio of 4 to 1.
New Technological Upgrades To Enhance Student Learning
The 2012-2013 academic year will see Washington Adventist University students able to access Wireless Internet from any of the WAU’s buildings. Vice President for Information Technology Services (ITS) Greg Ingram says it’s a part of his department’s effort to keep pace with technological changes and enhance the learning experience for students.
